TRAVELLERS INFORMATION
Meditour clients coming to Malaysia will find an exciting, colourful, friendly destination. It’s multi-cultural, multi-religious society is a mix of Malay, Chinese, Indian cultures and although Bahasa Malaysia is the national language, English is widely spoken and communication is not a problem.
Weather-wise, Malaysia is hot, sunny and humid for most of the year with an average temperature being 88°F. Even during the rainy season, which is Nov to Jan, it’s still hot, although perhaps not the best time to be lying on the beach. In fact the only occasions which you might find it’s chilly, is experiencing the air-conditioning in your hotel, or while dining at a restaurant, when a sweater might prove a blessing.
Kuala Lumpur or “KL” as it’s universally known is the capital and largest city in Malaysia. From the internationally recognized Petronas Towers to the designer shopping and sophisticated dining of the Bukit Bintang area, KL is on par with any major city, anywhere in the world.
The blending of the colonial buildings of the past with the gleaming modern high-rise developments presents a beautiful and charming city that is at the same time very safe and easy to navigate.
As well as extremely efficient air-conditioning, all KL’s leading hotels offer internet, email and fax services. SIM Cards for mobile phones are available and must be used with a Digital GSM mobile phone within 900-MHZ range or a Digital PCN mobile within the 1800-MHZ range. This ease of communication should reassure our patients that they are not suddenly ‘a stranger in a strange land’ but a welcome guest in our beautiful country, while still only a phone call away from their love ones back home.
