John Chan began his working career in the technical field after obtaining a Diploma in Electrical Engineering. He successfully obtained a Certificate in Airline Reservations & Ticketing (Advanced) with Distinction. He commenced his travel career as a Sales Executive and went on to hold various positions, which enabled him to gain wide exposure in the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality industries.
Throughout his tenure with a few leading Travel Companies, he has managed to gain in-depth knowledge and exposure across multi-disciplines in functional positions. They are:

• Talent Management, Training and Leadership Development
Throughout the era of growth from the 80s, 90s till the present, he was very much involved in the retail and wholesale travel segments which have seen significant impact on both leisure and business travel. He was one of the pioneers when the Internet and the online business model began to shape the way travel was being distributed by the various suppliers of travel components.
He has contributed significantly to the business expansion, revenue and profitable growth objectives with Reliance Travel (local & overseas expansion), HOTEMART.com (expansion of distributors and GSA), Galileo Malaysia (establishing entry into Malaysia), Destination Masters (SMAS Travel – PETRONAS & Exxon Mobil and Govt-related accounts), Mayflower Acme Tours (M.I.C.E. Incentive and Conventions), PYO Travel.com (online OTA) and Asia Experience Tours. He was also attached to NCR Travel & Tours, a new setup catering to the international student and Edu-tourism market segments under the UCSI Group of Companies. He is now a Business Development Consultant with KRIS International Traveltours, a diversified Inbound, Outbound Tour & Travel organization.
In serving such well-established Travel Companies, he was able to complement his skills and knowledge by handling training and lecturing assignments in Travel Management, Leadership & Supervisory Management and Tourist Guides Course programs. He has been conducting lectures in the Inbound & Outbound Best Practices ‘Travel & Tours Management Course’ (TTMC) modules, which is the Certification Program for Key Personnel of New Licensed Travel Agents and Tour Operators in Malaysia (MOCAT/ATTIM). He also conducts the TTEC (Tour & Travel Enhancement Course) for established Travel Agents.
He obtained his MBA through experiential-learning program during the course of his employment supplemented by professional courses in General Management (NUS/University of Texas Austin), Problem Solving and Decision Making (Kepner Tregoe), Designing and Managing Central Sales Organizations (Harvard Club) just to name a few.
He also found time to serve in various capacities in Kiwanis International, a community service Club for the underprivileged and handicapped children afflicted with Down’s Syndrome.
