THREAD-LIFT
The Threadlift is a new type of facelift that can be done in a clinic setting with minimal anaesthesia and very short recovery period. The threadlift is a less involved procedure than the traditional facelift. In general, the traditional facelift will result in longer downtime but also more noticeable and long lasting results. However, some patients with busy lifestyles, or who don't feel at ease with longer procedures, want a less involved procedure with limited downtime, even if the result is subtler.
ENDOTINE LIFT
The Endotine Ribbon is a bioabsorbable implant designed for lower face suspension of the jowl and neck. It is made of 82/18 L-lactide/glycolide, similar to LactoSorb™, and consists of a long slender leash with 34 tines that can be customized to the patient’s anatomy and procedure by cutting either the tine bearing area or the smooth leash area.
When implanted, the Ribbon engages the deep anatomy (SMAS or platysma) of the newly created surgical plane, and is sutured to the temporal or mastoid fascia to maintain the vector of lift until biological healing takes place. The Ribbon replaces conventional suspension suture used in lower face and neck suspension surgery, and is an effective alternative to ‘threading’.
SILHOUTTE LIFT
Silhouette Lift is a mid-face lift that uses Silhouette Sutures to lift sagging tissue in the mid-face area. It can also be used to lift the jowl area, eyebrows and cheeks. Silhouette sutures are not cut (or barbed) sutures so there is no prickling sensation as with barbed suture threads. Silhouette sutures are much stronger and since they are hollow and round they will absorb completely over time and be less visible.
A small incision is made beyond the hairline of the temple area each side for the face lift and/or behind the ear for a neck lift. The Silhouette sutures are inserted using a long needle and are passed through the mid-face or upper neck. When pulled, the hollow cones anchor on the soft tissue to be lifted. After lifting the tissue to the desired height, the sutures are then fastened into the deep temporal fascia and reinforced with a non-absorbable mesh. Once the threads are in place the incision is closed with absorbable stitches and skin closure clips.
APTOS LIFT – FEATHERLIFT
The Aptos lift is a simple and at the same time an entirely effective procedure for the lifting of sagging or asymmetrical eyebrows, a fading jaw line en sunken cheeks. This technique is less suitable for the contour of the eyes. The procedure takes approximately an hour and is carried out under local anaesthetic. The Aptos lift is in truth a hypodermic suspension system with special, dissolvable threads. The threads are placed by means of thin needle and are tied up in firm loops. The so-called Aptos threads are provided, on the one side, with barbed hooks so that they are easily attachable. In this manner the weakened tissue can be lifted to the required place. The threads dissolve over time and disappear by themselves as soon as the tissue has healed.
Are you an ideal candidate?
Ideal candidates for thread lifts include people with minimal signs of aging who need just a small lift. Most people who undergo thread lifts are women between 35 and 60. They choose a thread lift because they have begun to see more prominence of the jaw, a relaxed (or minimally sagging) midfacial appearance or slight bags under the eyes or on the neck. Older people may undergo a thread lift during the more aggressive facelift procedure to provide additional support for the soft tissue area that was elevated in the facelift.
Other thread lift candidates include those who have had some relapse from a previous plastic surgery procedure such as a facelift or neck lift. Many physicians combine thread lifts with other procedures, such as chin lifts, neck lifts and brow lifts, for a customized approach to facial rejuvenation. Patients whose faces are very heavy or very thin are not ideal candidates.
How long do I have to be hospitalized?
Thread lifts are often performed in an outpatient medical surgery center or hospital. Because the procedure is minimally invasive, general anesthesia is not required, so you can remain awake. One benefit is that the plastic surgeon can give you a mirror as the thread is pulled back, allowing you to give feedback. Usually an oral anti-anxiety medication, along with local anesthesia, is all that is required.
Recuperation
Your surgeon will provide complete postoperative instructions that you must follow to reduce the risk of complications during recovery. These instructions may include an escort to drive you home and assist with daily activities for at least 24 hours, as well as diet restrictions (soft foods) for seven days. Pain can be managed with oral medications. Your surgeon may recommend elevating your head to reduce swelling for the first day.
The day following the procedure, you can resume non-strenuous activities, and all normal activities can usually be resumed within seven to ten days. You probably won't be comfortable in social situations for up to one week - three weeks for weddings, reunions and other formal occasions.
Other Recommended Procedures with THREAD-LIFT Facelift
A THREAD-LIFT facelift is often done with other treatments, such as combining radio-frequency post THREAD-LIFT, nose reshaping and eyelid surgery or just adding on BTA to enhance the lift. Other options include the Thermage, which works to a lesser degree, and invasive plastic surgery.
