The underlying pathology is atherosclerosis, which develops over many years and is usually advanced by the time symptoms occur, generally in middle age. Acute coronary and cerebrovascular events frequently occur suddenly, and are often fatal before medical care can be given. Modifi cation of risk factors has been shown to reduce mortality and morbidity in people with diagnosed or undiagnosed cardiovascular disease.

Cardiovascular Screening Package for Men and Women

A screening test aims to be sure that as few as possible with the disease get through undetected (high sensitivity) and as few as possible without the disease are subject to further diagnostic tests (high specificity).

Full blood count with PBF and ESR/ Unit ABO and RH typing/Lipid profile/ Liver function test/Renal profile/Glucose/Bone metabolism profile/ Free thyroxine(FT4)/ Hepatitis B Screening/Rheumatoid arthritis (RA)factor/Alpha-feto-protein (AFP)/VDRL(RPR)/Uric acid/Urine test

Specific Tests

Stress ECG(treadmill)/Chest X-Ray/Coronary calcium score/High sensitive CRP (for coronary risk factor)/ Free Tri-Iodothyronine (FT3)/Thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH)/Hepatitis C Screening/ Fitness screening/Diet wellness counseling.

For the purpose of screening for CAD, each patient should discuss their particular CAD "risk factor profile" with the doctor in order to decide if investigative tests are indicated and which test is most appropriate. The doctor will have detailed information regarding what testing involves and the implications of the results for each individual.
